ADOPTING THE ELINE SNEL MINDFULNESS METHOD FOR
YOUR SCHOOL

We offer a four-step trajectory for school teams, IB groups, directorates or cooperative ventures

Step 1: Information about the contents and effects of Mindfulness training in a school class

During a workshop of 1 – 4 hours on location you and/or your team will be provided with all necessary information. For further enquiries please contact Mark Hansen or Peggy Carlier.

Step 2: 8-week Mindfulness in education training

Eline has developed a special Mindfulness training specifically for teachers.

The training can be followed individually or as a team (online, on location or at the Heuvelkamp, our training site).

Costs depend on the number of participants, the location and whether the training is online or offline. For more information please get in touch with Mark Hansen.

Contents of the training
During the weekly 2½ hour meeting you will come into contact with:

  • Your own centre of peace and composure. Learn to create peace and harmony in your class.
  • Your natural ability to be both consciously present and yourself in class.
  • How to look and listen to yourself and the children you teach without (having) to judge.
  • Discovering the ‘the conveyor belt of worries’ and the ‘pause button’. How do you cope?
  • How to stop what you’re doing and focus consciously on your breathing. Awareness of your breathing puts you ‘in the moment’ so that you are less preoccupied with ‘all the things you still need to do’ or ‘everything that should have already been done’.
  • Discovering that you can’t avoid stress and work pressure but you can influence how you deal with them.
  • Choosing what you need to stay fit, motivated and fully in the present moment in class and at school.
  • Deploying your qualities in a better way to allow the talents of children to blossom.
  • Self-care and self-compassion: having the courage to show your vulnerability and remain strong at the same time. Being able to convey this to the children you teach.

Mindful teaching trains to you to take better care of yourself and your pupils together with the many other tasks you have to cope with. The key is to be consciously present in what you do, think and experience. Instrumental to achieving this is: attention.

Material
To complement the training, we provide a comprehensive work book. If you wish, you can download the ‘Stilzitten’ (Sitting still) app. Four meditation sessions with accompanying yoga exercises on a USB stick or audio material allow you to practice for 20 to 40 minutes every day at home.

Teachers and/or other professionals quickly learn to apply the Eline Snel Method in their own or other school classes. The method can also be implemented throughout the whole school or specifically in areas where it is most needed. The Academy for Mindful Teaching (AMT) offers a children’s trainer instruction course for individual teachers which is also suitable for (sections of) school teams.

Step 3: Course to become a mindfulness child trainer and or mindfulness adolescent’s trainer

The Academy for Mindful Teaching (AMT) offers a children’s trainer instruction course for individual teachers which is also suitable for (sections of) school teams.

Step 4: Expanding to become a ‘Mindful School’

If attention training according to the Eline Snel Method is offered by a school throughout the year to all its pupils, the institution is eligible for the predicate ‘Mindful School’.

In the ‘Mindful School’:

  • Attention training (or Mindfulness) for pupils and teachers is part of the school’s vision regarding learning, well-being, the development of autonomy and life values.
  • Attention training is a fixed part of the curriculum.
  • Team members enthusiastically participated in an eight-week Mindfulness training so that they could perform their work at school and in class in a more friendly, attentive and non-judgmental way.
  • Only teachers who have followed the necessary training course at the AMT give attention training to children.
  • Teachers can be trained to offer attention training lessons to the school as a whole. You can ask for more information on this subject via mark@elinesnel.com
  • Qualified teachers first give eight to ten primary lessons (depending on the age of the pupils). Subsequently, during the year, they continue to give daily five-minute exercises that focus on attention, compassion and how to regulate emotions.
